Sam Borni

Sam Borni is a freelance writer, a Double Masters student at King's College London and Renmin University of China, and a Senior Solutions Consultant at TIBCO Software. He is an expert at mastering data to enable businesses in optimising their strategic and real-time decision-making processes. Adept working within a number of life-cycle models, and well-versed in a number of programming languages including Python, SQL, and Java, Sam has seven years of experience leading enablement sessions to equip customers with the necessary skillsets to establish robust master data management initiatives, data governance frameworks and software asset management practices.

Sam also has extensive experience working across Europe and Asia, and is passionate about international politics and diplomacy. A strong proponent of international organisations and a staunch advocate for multilateralism, he is currently researching the possibility of a renewed Anglo-Japanese alliance in the aftermath of Brexit. Sam graduated with honours from the University of Portsmouth in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, and has a fundamental understanding of Japanese language.

An avid athlete, Sam has won awards playing both rugby and American football, and regularly competes in weightlifting competitions. He is also a former award-winning writer for The Galleon newspaper, and you’ll find him online @samborni on social media, or in-person at London coffee shops that make a good flat white.

  • Detailed project conception and requirements gathering with customers across EMEA and APAC surrounding their shared data assets, business processes and data governance needs.
  • Responsible for the completion of RFI/RFPs, responding in detail on the matter of solution capability pertaining to matters of Master Data Management, Reference Data Management, Metadata Management and Data Governance.
  • Leading enablement sessions globally with teams of partners and consultants across Europe and APAC to assist them in becoming familiar with the EBX solution.

Anglepoint - Consultant / Senior Consultant

  • Working closely with clients on a daily basis in the delivery and presentation of projects, discussing and analysing potential business opportunities, and handling budget and cost considerations across a number of concurrent work-streams.
  • Perform Quality Assurance on deliverables to ensure a high standard prior to their presentation to clients and their customers, through analysis of contracts, sales orders and software license agreements.
  • Participate in onsite meetings for data gathering and validation purposes, and handling communication with customers both on behalf of clients, or as an intermediary between the client and their customer.

  • Creator of Spotter, a mobile gym assistant targeting weightlifters and bodybuilders developed for iOS as part of my final year project and dissertation.
  • Team leader for the National Cyber Security Challenge, designing a selection of cryptography-related challenges, as well as Erasmus Ambassador for the university, promoting the exchange program through written case studies of my own experiences, giving presentations to groups of first year students to inform them of the benefits of studying abroad.
  • First team defensive tackle for the University of Portsmouth Destroyers, the university's American Football team. Award-winning writer for The Galleon student newspaper, covering television and film.
